Matt and Lori Powell both grew up in the Katy area. After attending local Katy schools they both went off to San Marcos, TX to later graduate from Texas State University. Matt and Lori were married in 1997 and have been blessed with almost 9 wonderful years of marriage. God has blessed the Powell family with two beautiful daughters, Bethany and Avery Powell.

Matt went on to complete his masters degree at Southwestern Seminary and is currently working on his doctorate at Fuller Seminary. While working at another church in the Houston area, God called Matt and Lori to begin a new church in the Katy area. After sensing that call and beginning to travel down that path, God provided Kingsland Baptist Church with their vision to plant churches. Kingsland joined Matt’s journey, and through a marriage of the two visions, God birthed The Crossings. God has been so faithful to guide and provide at every step of the way. Matt and Lori are both incredibly excited to see how God will use The Crossings to impact people locally, nationally, and internationally.
